Making the SPU products onsite has allowed JP Vizage to adjust the material to meet the unique driving and performance needs of American drivers. Super Polyurethane (SPU) was developed by JP of Japan to resolve an issue that had long plagued drivers seeking to increase performance and style with aerodynamics. The original ground effects kits were often heavier than other parts of the body and wound up increasing drag to slow performance. The industry then switched to fiberglass as their preferred composite material, but there were issues with that too.
Fiberglass is a cast mat that is painted with resin. It is degrades quickly when exposed to UV rays and becomes brittle with age. While fiberglass can be inexpensive to repair, it is easily damaged too. SPU represents a technological step forward in the use of polyurethane plastics for aerodynamics. Where other polyurethanes have had similar problems with being either too soft or too brittle, the unique composite blend in SPU lets it retain a degree of flexibility that allows it to resist damage. SPU is 75% more damage resistant than fiberglass.
